Renjo La Pass is one of the three high passes in Everest region. Renjo La Pass trekking route is less visited trekking route compared to the famous Everest Base Camp trekking trail. The trekking route has several picturesque locations along the way. Gokyo Renjo La Pass trekking is specially designed for the travelers who wish to perform adventure trekking with the scenic locations in short time frame. The Gokyo Renjo La Pass trekking route passes through several Sherpa inhabited villages with Buddhist culture. Travelers can enjoy the amazing view of world’s highest peaks and also the warm hospitality of the Sherpa inhabitants.

Gokyo Renjo La Pass trekking trail is comparatively easier than other two high passes Cho La Pass and Kongma La Pass but provides equally magnificent vista of the Himalayas. The trekking trail takes you to the beautiful Gokyo valley in Everest region. The ascent to the Gokyo peak (5360m) provides excellent views of Mount Everest, Mount Makalu and beautiful Solukhumbu region beneath them. The optimal scenic locations along the trekking path provides heart throbbing vista of beautiful glacial lakes like Lonspunga Tso, Taboche Tso, Angladumba tso and Gokyo Tso Lake. The summit of the Renjo La pass provides magnificent view of Everest Himalayan range, Rolwaling Himalayan range, Gyachung Kang peak and glacial lakes. Other several mountains to be observed during the trekking trail are Ama Dablam, Lhotse Shar, Taboche, Thanseru and many more. Day 01:Arrival at Kathmandu (1350m).

Day 03:Fly to Lukla airport and trekking up to Phakding.

Day 04:Trekking from Phakding to Namche Bazar.

Day 05:Acclimatization day at Namche Bazar.

Day 06:Trekking from Namche Bazar to Dole.

Day 07:Trekking from Dole to Maccherma.

Day 08:Trekking from Machherma to Gokyo.

Day 09:Summiting Gokyo Ri (5350m) and exploring Gokyo valley.

Day 10:Trekking from Gokyo to Lumde via Renjo La Pass.

Day 11:Trekking from Lumde to Namche Bazar.

Day 12:Trekking from Namche Bazar to Lukla.

Day 13:Fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla. Enjoy the farewell dinner.

Day 14:Departure.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01Arrival at Kathmandu (1350m).Upon your arrival at the international Airport at Kathmandu, our representative would pick you up and transfer to a hotel. A short briefing about the next day activities is provided and overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 02Kathmandu Sightseeing tour and trekking preparation.After breakfast you are guided out for the sightseeing tour of different UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. We visit different culturally significant locations such as Boudhhanath, Swayambhunath, Kathmandu durbar square and Pashupatinath. We prepare for trekking and stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 03Fly to Lukla airport and trekking up to Phakding.After the early morning breakfast, we fly to Lukla from the domestic airport terminal at Kathmandu. The scenic flight provides the beautiful view of Himalayas. Upon our arrival at Lukla airport, we start our trekking towards Phakding. After about 4 hours of trekking we arrive at Phakding and check into a lodge to stay overnight.

Day 04Trekking from Phakding to Namche Bazar.We trek along the trail at the bank of Dudh Koshi River and move uphill through the forest dominated by pine trees. We enter Jorsale Park and cross the suspension bridge over the river. We arrive at Namche Bazar after few hours uphill walk through the pine forest. The Sherpa capital Namche Bazar is surrounded by Himalayas and is the prime location for trade and accommodation. We stay overnight at a guesthouse in Namche Bazar.

Day 05Acclimatization day at Namche Bazar.To avoid different altitude related health problems we take a rest day. The acclimatization helps our body to adapt in the high altitudes. We explore around the local market, nearby village and enjoy our day at Namche Bazar. Namche Bazar offers heavenly sight of lights and stars during the night time with a clear sky.

Day 06Trekking from Namche Bazar to Dole.After the breakfast at Namche Bazar we ascend along the Everest Base Camp trail until Chatyang Kharka. From Chatyang Kharka we head towards Mong leaving behind the Everest Base Camp trekking trail. During the walk we can have glimpses of several mountains like Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Taboche and pass several sacred monasteries. After completing the steep ascent to Mong, we descend downhill to Phortse Tenga and again move uphill through the rhododendron forest. We arrive at Dole passing through Tangwa Karka and we stay overnight at a guest house in Dole.

Day 07Trekking from Dole to Maccherma.The trekking trail continues to ascend uphill from Dole. After the breakfast we walk through Lhabarma to Luza on uphill trail. We can observe Yaks grazing on the alpine pastures along the way. We pass Yak kharka and arrive at Machherma after about 4 hours of trekking. We move into a guesthouse at Machherma and stay overnight.

Day 08Trekking from Machherma to Gokyo.Today we follow the scenic path towards Gokyo valley from Machhermo. We walk towards Pangga where massive avalanche hit on 1995. From Pangga we descend slightly downhills through beautiful and scenic route. We can see the first glacial lake of the trekking route named Lonspunga Tso after few hours of trekking from Pangga. We can see glimpses of beautiful Himalayas like Choyu and Gokyo peak. We pass through Tobuche Lake and Gokyo Tso Lake which denotes our arrival at Gokyo valley. We stay overnight at a guesthouse in Gokyo valley.

Day 09Summiting Gokyo Ri (5350m) and exploring Gokyo valley.Early in the morning we climb towards the summit of Gokyo Ri. The peak of Gokyo Ri offers fascinating view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Manaslu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ngozumba glacier and Gokyo valley. We return back to Gokyo and explore around the village and lakes and enjoy our acclimatization day at Gokyo village. We stay overnight at the guesthouse and prepare ourselves for summiting Renjo La Pass.

Day 10Trekking from Gokyo to Lumde via Renjo La Pass.After enjoying our breakfast at Gokyo, we begin our trekking to Renjo La Pass. The initial phase of the trekking goes through a leveled path and steep uphill trail starts. We climb through the slippery trail enjoying the Himalayan view. After summiting the last view point of the trail, Renjo La Pass, we enjoy awe-inspiring sight of Himalayas similar to the view from Gokyo Ri. We begin to descend downhill through the slippery trail to Lumde. We descend almost 1000m in altitude from Renjo La Pass to Lumde and stay overnight at guest house.

Day 11Trekking from Lumde to Namche Bazar.Today we pass several pastures, farms and multiple villages on our way to Namche Bazar. From the glacial landscape we arrive at the land of greenery, forests and thicker residence. On our descent to Namche Bazar we pass through several monasteries and suspension bridges. We finally arrive at the Sherpa capital Namche Bazar and move into a guest house to stay overnight.

Day 12Trekking from Namche Bazar to Lukla.This is the final trekking day of the Gokyo Renjo La Pass trekking. Today we walk uphill initially and then we hike down towards the river. We walk along the bank of river and through the bridges. After few hours of trekking and a final elevated ascent we arrive at Lukla. We enjoy our last trekking day at Lukla and stay overnight at a guest house.

Day 13Fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla. Enjoy the farewell dinner. We take the early morning flight to Kathmandu from Lukla airport. We arrive at Kathmandu after an hour of scenic flight. We move into a hotel and rest during the day. We can also perform souvenir shopping walking through the busy shopping markets of Kathmandu. Tonight we enjoy the dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant watching the cultural dance performance. After the farewell dinner we return back to the hotel and stay overnight.

Day 14Departure.Thank you for performing Gokyo Renjo La Pass trekking in Nepal with Lovely Nepal Tours and Travel. Our representative will drop you to the airport for your final departure to the future destination.

Trip Note

The environmental, political and several other factors that are beyond the control of our team might be the hindrances in the trip. It is quite unusual for the alteration of whole itinerary; however, these factors can be responsible for the change and improvisation of the proposed itinerary. In such cases, the group leader or the trekking guide would decide the best alternative possible and try to minimize the problem as per the group’s interest. However, the company would not be responsible for the result of the alternatives and change in the suggested itinerary.

In case of health problems:

In case of altitude sickness and other health hazards during the trip, Lovely Nepal can charter a helicopter for you. In case you use this service, you can do the payment at our office. The payment receipt will be provided so that you can claim the amount from insurance.

In case of Flight Delay:

There might be certain delay in flight schedule from few hours to few days while flying to and from Lukla. The extreme weather conditions, technical problems and minimum visibility can be the barrier for the landing and taking off of the flight. In case of these difficulties, Lovely Nepal Tours can charter a helicopter to make sure you won’t miss your international flight. In this case, the cost of the chopper can be paid directly at our office. You would be provided with the payment receipt so that you can claim the amount from insurance. However, it is a good idea to keep few spare days at the end of the itinerary while trekking in Everest region to minimize the effect of flight delay.
